Grab Another Fork....He's Done Too

Little Stevie Staios is done for the year. His knee, which has been affecting him since November, is kaput. Off to surgery for you Steve plus a nice four month rehab.
But is there some light at the end of the tunnel? No, but a quick flash of light. Defenceman Tom Gilbert who has been out with a concussion since early February has started skating and could be ready to return to when the team opens a six-game road trip in Nashville. Great. I liked his game when he played on the demoralizing road trip last month. I'd like to see him get some big minutes, if he can, before the end of the season. I think he has a great chance to make the team next year if all goes well.
Well two games against the Avalance and then Nashville to end the Oilers home games. Off on the road for six to put an end to the misery. The big question: will the Oilers win again before the end of the season? And do we even want them to? Yes and no. I have a hard time cheering against them, but it's meaningless right now. If they can get into the bottom 5, they have a chance for the overall pick. I like to see them competing, like they did last night. I don't know.
I do know this: I am cheering hard for the Avs and Habs. Right now, Calgary is only 4 points up on Colorado. How sweet would it be if they faltered? Many dances of glee would follow.

I feel strangely guilty. I was at that practice in November. Saw it happen.

Poor Stevie.

I'm sad. My last game is tonight, I feel a slaughter coming on, and although the thudersticks (or whatever they're called) are a nice addition to "Fan Appreciation Night" (seriously, WTF!?), it won't quite fill the void of not having the Oilers finish with any kind of gusto.

Win another game? Not likely.

Is it true about the other players not liking Smyth in the dressing room? I read it on the message board, but I'm a bit dubious ...

Shannon,
Whomever said Smytty might not be liked is an idiot. He's one of the most popular and well respected players in the league.

Scarlett: Picture this: April 7, Flames need a win to keep pace with Colorado. Oilers are playing them in Calgary. Could happen...

Yeah the Oilers really know how to treat the fans. Thundersticks? Yeah I feel totally appreciated. Totally worth shelling out thousands for my boys. Totally.

Kyle, hells yeah. If that were to happen, road trip to Calgary might be in order.

A nice little Oiler win on April 7 would be supa-dupa sweet! Woo! Flames - you're going down!

haha they just won a game yesterday, out of all teams against the Avs. sigh. Seeing how happy the boys were after the win, I did feel guilty for cheering for them to lose.

I was happy for them too. I just wish it had been against anyone else. Damn. But it was nice to see them all happy.
