Czech-arific?

Well, it's official.....Petr Sykora is an Edmonton Oiler. Personally, I'm not impressed. I think our forwards were already a good group, and I've never been a fan of Sykora. He's one of those typical Europeans.....inconsistent and lazy. Sure, you can see glimpses of brilliance, but it never lasts and fades away. He averages between 50-60 points so if the rumour of $3 million is true, then I'm really not impressed at all. I think that's too much money. Also, it's mid-August and no one else has signed him? Yeah I think that speaks volumes.

Ok ok, it's done so I guess we should give him a chance.

i guess we'll have to see how he pans out, but i'm still inclined to think he'll produce more goals/points than Radek "try-really-hard-and-skate-really-fast-but-get-nothing-accomplished" Dvorak. he'll likely score more goals than last year's Peca and Dvorak combined (not that hard). I'll miss D-vo's skating and tenacity, but i think Petr will fit in just fine. we got lotsa guys who can do the 'heavy lifting'…

Oates and Peca looked incredibly overpaid - until you see what they left behind - better faceoff centers. Maybe Sykora is gonna tutor PP point time for forwards?? The Oiler web site roster has Sykora as a center - hmmmm.

The established boys on the team are proven players thus far, Petr has a chance to prove himself too with a team that has one goal in sight, The Stanley Cup. He has to realize that in Edmonton , Fans here want 100% play effort by all members of the team, and if players only show up once in a while, the fans can be rough to those that show any sign of lazyness... I expect the Oilers to have a better season than last Year, For the sake of the fans, they better!
